Our children growing in faith and confidence
Mercy : Indonesia

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9
This week, we’re reminded that the fruit of faithful love and perseverance leads to stories of our children growing in confidence, learning to trust God, and finding joy in community.
Every act of kindness sewn into their lives is producing hope here in Indonesia!
That’s why we don’t just want our children to survive, but thrive - growing into the kind of adults that love God, love people, and love themselves.
A Changed Life: Marison’s Story
A little over a year ago, Marison, the youngest child at the Mercy Indonesia Children’s Home in Denpasar, was brought to us. When he first arrived, Marison was known for being mischievous, energetic, and sometimes a bit…hard to handle.
Having come from a broken home at such a young age, the world became such a terrifying and confusing place.
But over time, something beautiful began to happen. Through the loving care, discipleship, and daily routines at Mercy Indonesia with his new friends, Marison started to change.
He’s learning to control his emotions, listen to advice, and take part in study times and group devotionals. His heart is softening, and his passion for learning is growing.
That growth recently revealed itself when Marison won 2nd place in a Bible reading competition, reciting from the Book of Psalms! The whole Mercy family couldn’t be prouder of how far he’s come.

We’re praying that Marison continues to grow into a young man who fears the Lord, loves learning, and becomes a blessing to others.

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters who make stories like Marison’s possible. Your love and partnership are changing lives—one child at a time.
Yvaine Charisya – Learning to Trust and Step Forward
Now we meet Yvaine Charisya Nadya Nalle, a student at SMK TI Bali Global and a beloved member of the Mercy Indonesia Children’s Home in Denpasar.
Charisya recently received a special opportunity to represent her school at the UPMI 2025 Journalism Week, a prestigious competition that brings together high school students from all across Bali.
At first, Charisya was hesitant. She had never joined a journalism competition before and felt that many of her classmates were more talented and experienced. But with faith and encouragement from her Mercy family, she decided to step forward, believing that God would guide and help her.

![]() Charisya’s Presentation Charisya chose to compete in the feature writing category, a type of journalism that focuses on storytelling with heart, depth, and humanity. Through the process, she learned how to interview people, gather accurate information, and craft her story in a way that touches readers. Her article, titled “Journalists in the Midst of the Hoax Wave: Guarding Truth in a Noisy Era,” was written using the computer facilities at Mercy. After going through rounds of submission, judging, and presenting her work before a panel of university judges, Charisya achieved First Honorable Mention in the competition! | ![]() First Honorable Mention “I never imagined I could reach this point,” she shared with gratitude. “There were moments I wanted to give up, but I kept believing that God would help me through.” We are so thankful for Charisya’s achievement and proud to see how Mercy Indonesia’s children continue to grow in confidence, faith, and courage. Her story reminds us that when we trust God and take bold steps, He opens doors beyond what we can imagine. May Charisya’s success inspire other children at Mercy to keep dreaming, keep learning, and live for God’s glory in all they do. |
Thank you for being a part of their stories and the many more to come.
