“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” - Romans 12:12

Hello friend. Welcome to this week’s updates from across our region!

We're excited to share some powerful connections that have been taking shape: from a surgeon's family discovering our work in Sumba to joyful afternoons with visitors at Mercy Home Denpasar to inspiring moments with our radio listeners in Ambon.

These stories remind us that sometimes the most important work happens in simple, everyday moments when people come together.

Read on to see how these new friendships and partnerships are growing.

Mercy receives a visit from a healthcare professional

This week, we had the pleasure of meeting the Sujin family - Dr. Sujin, Amanda, and their children - who dropped by our office for the first time.

They learned about us through their new church community at City Church Australia, and since they were vacationing in Bali, they wanted to learn more about our work firsthand.

Dr. Sujin, a surgeon, showed particular interest in supporting our healthcare initiatives. The family was especially interested in our projects in Poguwatu Village, Central Sumba.

They're planning to return next year and help provide medical resources that our communities need.

We're excited about the possibility of working together to strengthen our healthcare outreach in the region.

New friends from America come for a visit!

In another exciting visit, 8 women from the US vacationing in Bali recently spent time with our kids at Mercy Home Denpasar.

What started as a casual visit turned into a lively afternoon of games, dancing, and singing—our children were thrilled to welcome their new friends.

The visitors were particularly drawn to our Mercy Shop and expressed interest in organizing fundraising efforts back home to support our work.

We're looking forward to seeing how this new connection might grow and impact the children we serve.

Mercy Radio Ambon breaks the airwave barrier

In other news—

Our Mercy Radio Ambon team spent this week connecting face-to-face with some of our most dedicated listeners.

It was inspiring to hear their personal stories about how our radio programs have impacted their lives and strengthened their faith.

Several listeners shared the health challenges they're facing and asked us to pray with them.

What stood out was how meaningful these home visits were—showing that Mercy Radio Ambon isn't just a voice through the airwaves, but a real presence in our community, offering support and encouragement when our listeners need it most.

Training up new announcers

In keeping with our radio news—currently, we are training are 3 new broadcaster candidates (Karel, Imanuel, and Elfin).

They are learning the fundamentals of broadcasting, creating Station IDs, Jingle, and advertising production.

3 radio announcer trainees

These new broadcasters will be sent to 3 different areas:

  1. Radio Cahaya Mandiri 96.3 FM in Waipia Amahai,

  2. Central Maluku, Radio Papua FM 95.4 FM Sorong,

  3. Radio Dian Mandiri Blimbingsari 92.5 FM.

They’ve been very diligent and we believe that they will bring fresh ideas to the Mercy Radio listeners.
