Amazing Progress, Extraordinary People

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” - John 15:5

New Water Tanks for Poguwatu Village!

During the Mercy Team’s latest visit, along with our partners, we’ve finally made progress in Poguwatu, a village forgotten by the world.

Many of you may remember that Poguwatu is a very remote village in Sumba isolated due to occurrences of skin lesions similar to leprosy.

Since Mercy encountered the village, we’ve established a children's school, access to clean water, a small church; and provided other necessities.

Since our last update, we expressed the need for more water tanks and a way to run an electrical system. We’re excited to announce that we have recently been able to bless the village with 4 new water tanks!

It's currently rainy season, and with these 4 water tanks, rainwater can be stored reducing the need to draw water from many miles/kilometers away.

The water can now be used for basic needs such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, and more.

With great joy, the people of Poguwatu are thankful for the assistance, and we are very grateful for God's help through you, His people.

Thank you for everyone's support and prayers. We believe that more good news is still to come!

Inaugurating Our New Radio Sumba FM Building

In other news, we’re highlighting God's extraordinary grace toward our Mercy Radio efforts.

For years, we have been looking for a building to host our Radio Sumba team so they can continue providing the island with the Good News.

After years of prayer, God has answered!

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, we celebrated the inauguration of the Sumba FM Radio building in Waikabubak (West Sumba).

This moment was made even more special by the attendance of Mr. Nison, a graduate of our Mission School (SPPT), who, after going through a radio training process, will now be trusted to maintain and operate this station.

This event was also attended by:

  • Ps. Paulus Wiratno (Founder and CEO of Mercy),

  • David Kealy, and Timothy Kealy from Reaching People Far From God,

  • Ps. Rich Witmer from Destiny Church,

  • Mr. Dance (our head radio technician),

  • Mr. Rofinus, Project Manager for Mercy Indonesia.

The atmosphere on the ground was that of deep joy, seeing this concrete manifestation of our collective prayer and effort.

Again, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your support and prayers!

Discipleship Seminar Held for Sumba Leaders and Pastors

Lastly, on January 23, 2025, Mercy Indonesia also held a Seminar for ministry leaders and pastors in Waikabubak, West Sumba, and its surrounding areas.

This seminar with the theme of “Discipleship” was led by Ps. Rich Witmer (Head Pastor of Destiny Church, Arizona).

The seminar went incredibly smoothly, strengthening faith and equipping God's servants to effectively disciple the people around them.
